Jimmy Pitts' keyboard approach has taken shape largely through studying the books and works of great composers. In particular, the music of Bach, Schoenberg, Scriabin, Ravel, and many other masters of Western music have influenced his harmonic sense and music composition. Much work has gone into developing the technique to play in his various projects. A technical facility acquired through many hours of Hanon/Czerny exercises and the like. Also, the influence of free jazz, Indian music, and fusion has opened new boundaries, especially as far as rhythm is concerned. When not working out new Fractured material, Jimmy spends his free time playing in the neo-classical goth metal act, S.K. Krow, and occasionally finds time for session work and other musical interests. Jimmy was a guest on Spastic Ink's Ink Compatible, along with such greats as Ron and Bobby Jarzombek, Jens Johansson, Michael Manring, Ray Reindeau, Pete Perez, etc. Jimmy recently scored the Darkstar dvd-rom, a project that he shared with none other than prog legends Rush, who provided the music for the movie aspect of this massive and multi-faceted production. Jimmy has also been featured on albums by Scholomance, Super String Theory, A Warmth In The Wilderness II--a tribute to Jason Becker (Asian release), Bill Bruce's Systematic Overload, and Charming Cobras, and has performed regionally with most of the aforementioned bands, and had a short hired gun stint performing in an Alice Cooper tribute band, Billion Dollar Babies. In addition to the musical workload, Jimmy has also found the time to pen two books of poetry and humorous philosophy, The Conscience Market and To Build a Better Slave.

Some of the most prominent current influences on Jimmy, as far as inspiration and listening enjoyment are concerned, would be: Glenn Gould, Mahavishnu Orchestra, Iron Maiden, Diamanda Galas, Il Balleto di Bronzo, Museo Rosenbach, Jonas Hellborg/ Shawn Lane, Shakti and many more--keyboard players in particular would be Jan Hammer, Jens Johannson, George Duke, and Chick Corea.

There is always something new to be learned and utilized in composition and technique. And the ultimate goal for Jimmy is to never stop improving...No pop sensibilities here!
