In addition to years of playing many different styles, with many different bands, Jerry studied music theory at S.M.S.U. and, has continued with his studies on his own. He has also added to his understanding of rhythmic playing by studying percussion extensively, and gaining a level of proficiency on the drums. Jerry hopes to achieve personal success in his composition, technique, and improvisational skills with his bands, as well as on his own.
Jerry Twyford
Bringing the low end to the sound of The Fractured Dimension is Jerry Twyford. Jerry has put upwards of 14 years into his own unique melodic and rhythmic approach to the bass; a method developed from much study of the counterpoint of Bach, and other fugue oriented music, as well as various styles of music ranging from funk and Latin to progressive metal and fusion. He treats the bass as an independent voice, as opposed to the root-oriented role that bass has long been relegated to.
Other influences on his approach can be found in the music and/or playing of Glenn Gould, Ravel, Michael Manring, Pete Perez, Ron and Bobby Jarzombek, Billy Sheehan, Jonas Hellborg, Anthony Jackson, and Al Dimeola. Jerry's playing has been featured on albums such as Scholomance, Super String Theory, A Warmth In The Wilderness II (Asian Version), Weedeater, Mars, Charming Cobras I and II, and a solo album entitled The Deep.
